Even though I have my own business as a wedding photographer, I still really enjoy helping out other photographers. It allows me to take a few more risks photographically than I might be able to when I have the sole responsibility of covering all the important moments and I get the chance to photograph weddings that I might not otherwise have the opportunity to. The night before this wedding I received a call from Marcus Yam, a friend from college, asking if I could cover as the third shooter at a Hindu wedding in New Jersey with photographer Jonathan Young. Not one to turn down the opportunity I made sure all my camera batteries were charged and got to sleep at a reasonable hour. As I was walking up to Jonathan’s studio in Park Slope, I ran into my friend Drew Anthony Smith, who it turns out was the second shooter. Sure is a small world.
